Astrid's Work - Ulysses

Ulysses and Dog Argus

At the same time that Astrid was working on the Cyparissus & Stag sculpture, another member of the same rock group commissioned Astrid to create a life size sculpture for his home in the West Country.

This was another difficult time for Astrid. Again she would tell me stories of how things were never settled and I know that the process was very worrying to her.

Eventually a bronze casting was made, but just what finally happened to this work I do not know. At least a resin cast was made from one of the proposed maquettes.

It has been a poignant joy to create this website - joyful because my partner and I so loved Astrid, but poignant because remembering her reminds us of her loss. Yet her exuberance, innocence, and love of life is captured for all time in her work.

We hope you have enjoyed visiting this site, and we would invite anyone who knew Astrid or her work to share anectdotes of her life, and to allow us the pleasure of including more photos of her work on this site (with links to you and acknowledgemenst if you wish).
